Summary
Description Cadillac Place, Detroit (Grand Boulevard entrance) - 20201215 - 02.jpg |
English:
As seen in December 2020: the majestic triple-arched main entrance to Detroit's Cadillac Place is found on the south side of West Grand Boulevard between Cass and Second Avenues, in the New Center area of town. Classical detailing abounds, not only in the form of the arches themselves but also the stout Ionic columns supporting them, the round reliefs in the spandrels between them consisting of vaguely cruciform shields surrounded by laurel wreaths, and the foliate and urn motifs alongside, above, and even in the soffits of the arches.
