Governor Charlie Baker activated the Massachusetts National Guard to assist local authorities from the town of Rockport fight the ongoing Briarwood Fire.
Fifteen Soldiers from the Massachusetts Army National Guard's 179th and 180th Engineer Detachments responded along with five M1142 Tactical Firefighting Trucks. The detachments specialize in complex rescue and firefighting operations at home and abroad, including forest fires, structural fires, aircraft crash incidents, vehicle emergencies, and hazardous material incidents.
