Caption on image: No 1 Bird's Eye View Bonners Ferry Idaho Bonners Ferry was founded in northern Idaho in 1893 near an existing ferry over the Kootenai River. It first served as a supply station for the mines to the north but later became an important center for the timber and farming industries. The area surrounding Bonners Ferry is sometimes called the "Nile of the North" because of all the rich farming.
