English: The beginning of the revolution in Amsterdam, on January 19, 1795. Whilst standing on the steps of the old weighing house at Dam square in Amsterdam, Secretary Pierre van der Aa announces the surrender of the old regime of the mayors, to the Revolutionary Comité, and appoints Cornelis Krayenhoff as military commander of Amsterdam.
