Bead net with
scarab

Description |
Blue faience beads of a circular design incorporating a winged scarab and amulets. Once a body had been embalmed, it was wrapped in linen bandages and decorated with gold, jewels and protective amulets. The winged scarab on the net of beads would probably be above the heart on the deceased. Egyptians thought intelligence was in the heart and not in the brain. Therefore the amulet would ensure the heart would go into the afterlife intact.
