Summary
Description Baxter Cottage and junction at Drakelow, Worcestershire - geograph.org.uk - 1759435.jpg |
English:
Baxter Cottage and junction at Drakelow, Worcestershire At this junction, Sladd Lane (to the left) joins Kingsford Lane (ahead) which continues as Drakelow Lane (behind the camera)), and a road to Drakelow Grange continues as a bridleway* to Blakeshall. The North Worcestershire Way follows this bridleway having come from the west (left), from the River Severn near Upper Arley via Shatterford.
The many places in this region named after Baxter are referring to Richard Baxter (12 November 1615 8 December 1691) who was an English Puritan church leader, poet, hymn-writer, theologian, and controversialist!. See Wikipedia for a very interesting biography. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Baxter
