Bassoon, French system, dark rosewood, nineteen nickel silver keys, one plate for right hand third finger, two metal joints, wide metal band with hinged cover on one end. Black leather case with green felt lining and metal fittings, three brass mouthpieces, small wood ring, small wood case holding three reeds, two plastic tubes with one reed inside each 1 bassoon Rudall Carte and Co. Ltd., London, England, circa 1920 rosewood, nickel-silver ferrules and keys, French system, overall length 1282 mm stamped ‘(crown)- RUDALL - CARTE and CO. LTD. - LONDON’ 1998.60.25 Castle 32 (purchase) Bertram Yates, a former Queens Hall bassoonist, formerly owned this bassoon. Ronald Castle purchased it from him when he was the 1st bassoon in the Wellington Symphony Orchestra in the 1930s.
