Summary
Description Bangor and Aroostook potato caretaker pass 1906.JPG |
English:
Image of a Bangor and Aroostook Railroad pass for one of its potato workers. The shipping of potatoes was very important to both the state of Maine and the railroad; so much so that they hired men to tend to the potatoes as they were being shipped. Their duties included keeping the freight car heaters in fuel and running. The pass shown here, entitled the worker to passage back to his home town via the Boston and Maine Railroad.
