Today, the area around the Taman Sari castle complex is occupied by a settlement called Kampung Taman with 2,700 residents. The community is known for their batik and traditional painting craft traditions. Currently the Sultan of Jogja is planning to remove the houses and people around Taman Sari and replace them with luxury rental villas. Yogyakarta, Java, Indonesia. (dd. 2010)
