Summary

Description
English: Note: the following description may not be accurate. It is not on either register of historic places. Pequannock Township lists the date as 1890. It is also not the Van Ness House, a stone house at Jackson Avenue and Pompton Pine. THIS CIRCA 1900 FARMSTEAD, WITH BARNS, CHICKEN COOP, PRIVY, AND HAND-PUMPED WELL, WAS OWNED BY CARPENTER JESSE VAN NESS, WHOSE FAMILY FARMED THIS LAND SINCE 1713.

ACCORDING TO THE MORRIS COUNTY HERITAGE COMMISSION THIS HOUSE IS LISTED ON THE NEW JERSEY REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES AND THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES. HOWEVER I CANNOT FIND IT ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER BUT PERHAPS IT IS TOO NEW. IT SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED WITH THE VAN NESS-LINEN SITE WHICH IS DEFINITELY DIFFERENT
