The Ferrari 250 is a sports car built by Ferrari from 1953 to 1964. The 250 GTO was produced from 1962 to 1964, one of the greatest Ferraris of all time. It was built for homologation into the FIA's Group 3 Grand Touring Car category. GTO stands for Gran Turismo Omologato, Italian for Homologated Grand Tourer. 39 250 GTOs were manufactured between 1962 and 1964. This includes 33 Series I cars built in 1962 and 63, 3 Series II cars built in 1964, with updated bodywork similar to the Ferrari 250 LM and 3 330 GTO specials with a larger engine. 4 of the Series I cars were retrofitted in 1964 with an Series II body.
