Summary
Description 1962 Falcon XL Armstrong 500 winner (9031568830).jpg |
The XL Falcon was the 2nd Falcon to be built in Australia, replacing the XK, the XK had a concave grille, the XL convex. Harry Firth and Bob Jane drove this XL Falcon in the Armstrong 500 at Phillip Island in 1962 and won! 2nd was a Studebaker Lark and 3rd another Falcon. This was the last time the race was to be held at Phillip Island, moving to Mount Panarama, Bathurst for 1963. The car pictured above was built by Dwayne Overbury as a tribute to the 1962 Armstrong 500 Firth / Jane car.
