From 1941 the 1st digit of the Series was body size, as before and the 2nd digit was the number of cylinders. Available in 1949 was the Special 76 and Dynamic 88 and the GM-C body Futuramic 98 (the Custom Cruiser 98 was renamed in 1948) In 1949 the Hardtop coupe was introduced; the Holiday. 1950 cars were very similar but had a 1 piece windshield, the 98 got a wrap around rear window and was now called just the 98. In 1951, a horizontal bar repaced the arched bar in the grille, the wagon and the 76 were dropped (now all Rocket V8s) The upmarket and slightly longer and more powerful Super 88 was introduced. In 1952 an extra central support was added to the horizontal bar in the grille. Engine; 303 cu in OHV 'Rocket' V8. |
