The temple complex shows three prakara (courtyards). Each has many gopura (monumental gateways), the outermost are the tallest serving as landmarks for pilgrims walking towards it. Numerous pillared choultry are provided, which historically served as resting places and many provided food, water and temporary shelter to visitors and pilgrims.
