Das Reiterstandbild des Zaren Peter der Große (auch der „Bronzene Reiter“ genannt) am Senatsplatz ist das Symbol von Sankt Petersburg. Das Denkmal wurde vom Bildhauer Etienne Maurice Falconet erschaffen und es wurde im Jahre 1782 eröffnet. Die Reiterfigur steht auf einem 1.600 Tonnen schweren Granitsockel. Auftraggeberin war die Zarin Katharina die Große. Im Hintergrund das Verfassungsgericht der Russischen Föderation.

The equestrian statue of Tsar Peter the Great (also called the "Bronze Rider") on Senate Square is the symbol of Saint Petersburg. The monument was created by the sculptor Etienne Falconet and it was opened in 1782. The rider figure stands on a 1,600-ton granite base. The client was the Tsarina Catherine the Great. In the background the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation.
