Deutsch
:
Ranunculus asiaticus

Ranunculus asiaticus
. Rare event which can be natural but much more common in horticultural varieties which favor monsters. Plant cells are totipotent and therefore in the center of the flower bud there are cells close to stem cells. Normally they are supposed to give petals; but under the effect of a pathogen, a length of day, rain or any other unforeseen event, these cells can give rise to any type of organ, or new plants in the case of this image. This originality of the plant world has been exploited to cultivate these tissues in vitro and to multiply a plant by cloning.
