District in Ilam province, Iran


Sivan District (Persian: بخش سیوان) is in Ilam County, Ilam province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Jafarabad.[3]

After the 2011 census, Mishkhas Rural District was separated from the Central District in the establishment of Sivan District, which was divided into two rural districts.[3]

At the National Census in 2016, the district had 8,994 inhabitants in 2,465 households.[2]

In 2019, the village of Jafarabad was elevated to the status of a city.[4]

In 2023, Alishervan Rural District was transferred to the Central District of Badreh County. In the same year, Mahmudabad Rural District was established in the district.[5]
