Rande Gerber (born April 27, 1962)[1] is an American businessman. He founded tequila brand Casamigos alongside actor George Clooney and businessman Mike Meldman, as well as nightlife companies Midnight Oil, Caliche Rum, and Gerber Group, with a portfolio that has consisted of nightlife industry, such as restaurants, bars and lounges worldwide.[2] He is the husband of model Cindy Crawford and the father of model Kaia Gerber.

Early life

Gerber is the son of Jordan Gerber and Ellen Peckman. He is of Russian-Jewish descent.[1] Gerber grew up in Hewlett, New York[3] and graduated from Hewlett High School in 1980.[4][5] He attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing.[6]

Career

Gerber's Gerber Group opened its first venue, the bar The Whiskey in the Paramount Hotel in New York City, in 1991.[7] In 2013, he partnered with George Clooney to launch Casamigos Tequila.[8] In June 2017, it was sold to Diageo for $700 million, with an additional $300 million possible depending on the company's performance over the next ten years.[9]

In January 2019, it was announced that Gerber and his partners, Michael Meldman, Jeff Shell, and Jay Sures would purchase Nate 'n Al of Beverly Hills and keep it open.[10][11]

Personal life

Gerber married model Cindy Crawford on May 29, 1998.[12] They have two children, son Presley Walker (born July 2, 1999)[1] and daughter Kaia Jordan (born September 3, 2001),[13][14] both of whom started modeling careers while growing up.[15][16] In August 2021, the couple sold their home in Trousdale Estates, Beverly Hills, for a reported $13.5 million.[17]
