Schecter Synyster Custom-S
US solid body electric guitar
The Schecter Synyster Custom-S is a solid body, Set neck electric guitar produced by the Schecter Guitar Research. It is the signature guitar of Avenged Sevenfold lead guitarist Synyster Gates. It was introduced in 2012 after much demand to release it to the public, as Gates had been using it on stage and in the studio since 2005, after the band had finished recording for City Of Evil, Many Variants have since been produced including many different pinstriped colourways, and other styles such as the American and German flags.[citation needed]
The guitar featured twin Seymour Duncan Invader SH-8SG humbucking pickups, until around 2018 when they were replaced by Synyster Gates signature Schecter pieces. The guitar has a full Set-neck Mahogany body, and Ebony fingerboard, with a custom horned 3+3 headstock. The body shape is based on the Schecter Avenger. The guitar features a custom fretboard featuring the following inlays; A cross at the third fret, 'SYN' from the 9th through 5th frets, and Avenged Sevenfold's emblem, the Deathbat, centred on the 12th fret coving the 14th through 10th, and a relatively standard custom bar inlay for the remaining marked frets.[citation needed]
The publicly available models of the guitar are produced by Schecter in South Korea. However Gates has likely had some built by Schecter's Custom Shop in the United States.[citation needed]
