Ria 897 is a Malay radio station of Mediacorp in Singapore. This radio station operates on a 24-hour basis since 1 January 2008,[1] playing Malay hits predominantly from the 1990s to the present. The station's DJs include Azlin Ali. Ria 897 is also one of the second Malay language radio in Singapore after Warna 942.

The programmes on Ria 897 as of 2023 include #2BudakNakal with Nity Baizura and Zuhairi Idris on mornings, R-ADI-OACTIVE with Adi Ratman and Gen M with Azlin Ali on lunchtime, Ria MANIA on afternoons, Ria Kruz with Azura Goh and Fadli Kamsani on evenings, Malam Ini Kita Punya with Dalina Jaapar and Hafidz Rahman and Misteri Jam 12 on overnight and midnight.

An audio simulcast of Ria 897 is carried by Mediacorp's Malay television channel Suria after sign-off.

History

SBC announced the start of a new Malay-language radio station on 89.7 FM in October 1990. The service was yet unnamed and would capture a younger audience than Radio 2, the existing Malay station. The initial budget for the station was $1 million.[2]

The name Ria was announced in November, alongside its launch date of 1 December.[3]
