History

During the British period, the hall was used for theatrical performances. In the 1960s, there was a proposal to redesign the Premabhai Hall, and B. V. Doshi was selected for the project. In 1972, the new building built in a brutalist style was opened.[4]

In the 1990s, the hall was abandoned due to fire regulation issues. After a failed demolition proposal, the building remains standing, although abandoned.[4]
