In May 1912 he was plucked from virtual obscurity to make his first-class debut in a Test trial match for the England cricket team.[2] He was not selected for the England team, but did play for Ireland against South Africa later that same year. This match was his only match for Ireland.[3]

Following this, he played several first-class matches for the MCC and Middlesex throughout 1913 and 1914,[1] before he died in Dublin in December 1915.[1]
