Indian journalist (1984–2022)


Pawan Jaiswal (1984  5 May 2022) was an Indian journalist.[1][2] He was known for his 2019 exposé which revealed that children at a government primary school in Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, were being fed only bread (rotis) and salt as part of mid-day meal.[3][4][5][6]

Early life

Pawan was born in 1984 at Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, India.[7]

Mid-day meal case

In 2019, a case was filed by the Uttar Pradesh Police against him and a village head representative for allegedly defaming the Uttar Pradesh government. The accusation stemmed from a video recording showing children at a school being served roti and salt as their midday meal.[8]

Death

On 5 May 2022, Jaiswal died after a prolonged battle with mouth cancer.[9]
