Patrick J. Hanratty
American computer scientist and businessperson (1931–2019)
Patrick J. Hanratty was an American computer scientist and businessperson, known as the "Father of CAD/CAM"[1][2][3]—computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing. Up to 2013, he was president and CEO of Manufacturing and Consulting Services (MCS) of Scottsdale, Arizona, a company he founded.[1][2] According to the University of California in 2012, industry analysts think that "70 percent of all 3-D mechanical CAD/CAM systems available today trace their roots back to Hanratty’s original code".[1][4][5][Note 1]
