American conservator and book artist


Pamela Spitzmueller (b. 1950, Chicago, Illinois)[1] is an American conservator and book artist. She attended the University of Illinois and then studied with the book conservator Gary Frost.[2] She has worked in the conservation departments of the Library of Congress, the Newberry Library, and the University of Iowa Libraries. She is the Chief Conservator for Special Collections at Harvard University Libraries.[3]

Spitzmueller also creates artists books. Her work has been included in many exhibitions[4][5][6] including a solo exhibition in 2013 at the Center for Book Arts entitled "Pamela Spitzmueller: Fold=Trans=Form",[7]

Her work is in the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA)[8] and the Yale University Art Gallery.[9]
