Bilquis Khanum, also known as Nisho (Urdu; نشو۔; born 1954) is a Pakistani film actress.[1][2]

Early life

Bilquis Begum was born on 1954 in Gujrat, Punjab, Pakistan.[3][4] She completed her studies from University of Punjab.[4]

Career

In the beginning, Nisho was in theatre at school. She made her big screen debut in the film Baazi in 1970.[5][6][4][7] She moved to Karachi, she worked in Lollywood movies.[8][3] She appeared in films Rangeela, Tiger Gang, Roop Behroop, Bazigar, Yaar Des Punjab Day, Yeh Aman.[9][10][11] After the success of her movies she changed her name to Nisho.[12][13] Later she appeared in films with Waheed Murad and Nadeem Baig.[14][15] She also sang songs in movies written by her husband Tasleem Fazli, a celebrated poet.[16][17] Nisho also appeared in movies Zalim Tay Mazloom, Namak Harram, Phool Meray Gulshan Ka and Neelaam.[18][19][20]

Personal life

Nisho first married her class-fellow Anaam Rabbani, but later divorced him.[21] Then she was married to songwriter and poet Tasleem Fazli. Nisho's husband died on August 17, 1982. After his death, Nisho married director Jamal Pasha.[22][4][23] She has three children; including actress Sahiba.[24] Nisho's daughter Sahiba is married to actor Afzal Khan.[4][25]
