Nicholas Kirton (born 6 May 1998) is a Barbadian-born cricketer. [1] He represents the Barbados national cricket team in West Indian domestic cricket and has also played for the Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League. Since 2018, he has played for the Canada national cricket team. He plays as a left-handed middle-order batsman.

Personal life

Kirton was born in Barbados on 6 May 1998.[1] His mother was born in Canada, making him eligible to play international cricket for both Canada and the West Indies.[2]

Domestic career

In June 2018, Kirton was selected to play for the Montreal Tigers in the players' draft for the inaugural edition of the Global T20 Canada tournament.[3][4] He made his first-class debut for Barbados in the 2018–19 Regional Four Day Competition on 17 January 2019.[5] In October 2019, he was selected to play for Barbados in the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament.[6] In July 2020, he was named in the Jamaica Tallawahs squad for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League.[7][8]

International career

Kirton made his List A debut for Canada in the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament on 8 February 2018.[9]

In October 2019, he was named in Canada's squad for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the United Arab Emirates.[10] He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Canada, against Jersey, on 20 October 2019.[11]

In March 2023, he was named in Canada's squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off.[12] He made his One Day International (ODI) debut on 27 March 2023, for Canada, against Jersey in that tournament.[13]
