Panot was the coordinator for La France Insoumise (FI) support groups ahead of the 2017 presidential election.^[2]

Mathilde Panot has taken strong stances for improving the democratic institutions of France, calling for a new Republic,^[3] based on improved citizen participation and strenghtening of the role of the Parliament.

Though the passing of the bill she put forward on November 2022, the 24th, Mathilde Panot was the first MP to impulse the enshrining of the right to abortion in the Constitution.^[4] This political proposal was part of La France insoumise program since 2012.^[5] the parliamentary group then led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon made a few unsuccessful intents to set it to the National Assembly agenda in 2018 and 2019. But after the shock caused by the Supreme Court overruling Roe v.
