Max (formerly HBO Max) is an over-the-top subscription service owned and operated by Warner Bros. Discovery and run through Warner Bros. Entertainment. It distributes a number of original shows, including original series, specials, miniseries, and documentaries and films. The movies and television shows produced for Max are dubbed "Max Originals", and had this name prior to the rebranding of HBO Max to Max on May 23, 2023. HBO Max was an expanded library of programming compared to the former HBO Now, which only carried HBO programming. Max Originals were specifically made for audiences outside of the traditional baseline HBO brand.
