The cotton mill of Tampereen Puuvillateollisuus Oy, which manufactured fabrics and yarns, was completed in the Lapinniemi area in 1899 and was integrated into Tampella in 1934.[1][2] The mill was in operation until the mid-1980s.[3] In Lapinniemi, there is the Rauhaniemi folk spa,[4] the Holiday Club Tampere spa (built in an old cotton factory),[5] and the Koukkuniemi's retirement home.[6] Lapinniemi operated as a housing fair in 1990.[7][8][3]
