Dame Julia Amanda Dias DBE (born 31 January 1959)[1] is a British High Court judge.[2]

Dias was born in Cambridge on 31 January 1959. She attended Perse School for Girls in Cambridge, later studying at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. Dias graduated from Trinity Hall in 1981.[1]
Dias married in 1983 and has one son and one daughter.[1]
She is fluent in French and Russian.[3]
Dias was called to the Bar in 1982[4] by Inner Temple,[5] spending her early years in law as an Assistante AssociƩe at the Paris Institute of Comparative Law.[2]
Dias joined the London-based chambers 7KBW in 1985 as the first female tenant, working in specialist commercial practice.[2]
She was called to the Gibraltar Bar in 1994.[3]
She took silk in 2008, granting her the title KC (then QC).[6]
She was appointed a Deputy High Court Judge in 2018,[2] assigned to the Chancery division.[4]
She was appointed a High Court judge on 20 March 2023[7] and assigned to the King's Bench Division by the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.[5]
She received the customary[clarification needed] damehood in 2023.[8]
