Imam Sultan Saqi Shrine
Shrine and cemetery in Kirkuk, Iraq
The Imam Sultan Saqi Shrine (Arabic: مرقد الامام سلطان ساقي) is a historic shrine for the Twelver Shi'ite community of Turkmen, located in the Tisin neighbourhood of Kirkuk in Iraq.[1][2][3] It contains a tomb dedicated to Imam Sultan Saqi, a descendant of Ja'far ibn Abi Talib. A local cemetery also exists around the mausoleum.[1][2][3]
On the 27th of May 2009, the shrine was restored in a combined effort by both Iraqi and American soldiers.[4][3] However, the shrine is currently still in limited access to the public.[5][3]
