The seat was created in 1999, largely replacing Eastwood.[1] Like its predecessor, it is a comfortably safe Liberal seat until 2023 when Perrottet suffered a huge swing against him making it a marginal seat.
On its current boundaries, Epping includes the suburbs of Beecroft, Cheltenham, Cherrybrook, North Epping and parts of Epping, Carlingford, Castle Hill, Dural, Eastwood, Pennant Hills and West Pennant Hills.[2]
