Destroy All Neighbors is a 2024 American splatter horror comedy film written by Mike Benner, Jared Logan and Charles A. Pieper and directed by Josh Forbes. Jonah Ray, Randee Heller, Pete Ploszek, Kiran Deol are the stars of the film with Russell Sanzgiri, Jonah Ray and Alex Winter serving as a producers.[2] The film is about a rock musician who accidentally killed his neighbor.[3]

Plot

Struggling prog-rock musician William Brown (Jonah Ray) has a new neighbor that moves into his apartment building: Vlad (Alex Winter), an Eastern-European man who is a "neighbor from hell", constantly screaming and playing loud EDM at all hours. William confronts Vlad, and through an unfortunate series of events, ends up accidentally murdering him. Eventually, he ends up murdering all of his neighbors and a homeless man, who all come back to him as ghosts. They form a band and finish Williams album, which he has been working on for 3 years.

Production

The film production and casting was start on July 2022, and announced that Shudder and RLJE Films will distribute the film.[4]

Release

Shudder distributed the film and released on January 12, 2024.[5]

Reception

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 70% of 27 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.7/10.[6] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 53 out of 100, based on 7 critics, indicating "mixed or average" reviews. [7]

Kim Newman of Empire gave the film a rating of 3 over 5 and wrote, The only film you’ll see this year with a limbless torso playing drums with animated entrails, this wickedly witty take on the seamy side of creative ambition is well worth a spin.[8]

2.5 over 5 rating was given by Meagan Navarro of Bloody Disgusting and she said, Those on its wavelength won’t mind the rough edges or underdeveloped themes in this raucous comedy filled with enough moments and character beats to compensate. But the flaws will only become more evident if this type of humor isn’t for you.[9]
