Day of Victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War
Holiday in North Korea
The Day of Victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War (Victory Day) is a national holiday in North Korea celebrated on July 27 to mark the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement which brought a cease fire to the Fatherland Liberation War (Korean War) that took place in 1950–53; it is referred to as "Victory Day" despite the fact that the war is generally regarded as having ended in a stalemate.[1][2][3] On this day ceremonies are held at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Memorial.
