Borongan Airport (Waray: Luparan han Borongan, Cebuano: Tugpahanan sa Borongan, Filipino: Paliparan ng Borongan) (IATA: BPA, ICAO: RPVW) is an airport serving the general area of Borongan, the capital of the province of Eastern Samar, located in the province of Eastern Samar in the Philippines. It is classified as a community airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, an attached agency of the Department of Transportation that is responsible for the operations of not only this airport but also of all other airports in the Philippines except the major international airports.

History

In September 2008, Borongan Airport was opened by Gov. Ben Evardone, The first flight landed in noon operated by SEAIR on September 2, 2008. In December 2022, House Minority Floor Leader Marcelino Libanan, had a meeting with DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista about the funding of the expansion of the airport. They wanted to do a runway extension, and a bigger terminal. They also wanted to improve the tower so the airport can have nighttime flights. In June 19 of 2023, The City Government of Borongan opened a new terminal to passengers and travelers.[4]
