The nature of comics as a cultural medium requires a slightly different burden of notability than the rest of Wikipedia may have to offer.
This is an essay on notability. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not an encyclopedia article, nor is it one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, as it has not been thoroughly vetted by the community. Some essays represent widespread norms; others only represent minority viewpoints. |
This page in a nutshell: With the sheer amount of comic book characters, titles, and teams that exist, editors must use care when deciding whether a comics-related project deserves its own article, belongs on a list, or should not be on Wikipedia in the first place. |
However, editors of comics-related articles must realize that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate list of information, and adjust articles accordingly, updating, merging or deleting content where it is questionable.
Too many comics-related articles are simply long character biographies and plot summaries which are not conducive to the encyclopedic nature of the website, we can leave the fanwikis to serve that purpose.
The purpose of this page is to help provide a guideline for which comics-related articles belong in solo article form, in a list, or the trashcan.
