Taurus Tomahawk


Taurus Tomahawk is a two-stage sounding rocket, consisting of a Taurus first stage derived from MGR-1 Honest John rocket and a TE-416 Tomahawk upper stage.

Taurus Tomahawks were used between 1978 and 1987. The Taurus Tomahawk could carry 60 lb (27 kg) of payload to an altitude of 365 miles (587 km). The launch thrust of the Taurus Tomahawk amounted to 82,000 lbf (360 kN), the launch weight 3,550 lb (1,610 kg), the diameter of 23 inches (58.4 cm) and the overall length of 30.79 feet (9.38 m).
