The Oklahoma Sooners softball program is a college softball team that represents the University of Oklahoma in the Big 12 Conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.[1] The team has had 5 head coaches since it started playing organized softball in the 1975 season.[2] The current coach is Patty Gasso, who took over the head coaching position in 1995.

  2. Oklahoma competed in multiple conference organizations in its early years, with varying systems of conference play and championships. They played as part of the Oklahoma Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, the Southwest Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, and Big Eight Conference from 1976. Records for Big 8 play only exist beginning in 1985. Oklahoma joined the Big 12 Conference beginning in 1996.
  3. Postseason appearances include seasons with NCAA Division I softball championship bids since the tournament began in 1982.
  4. College World Series appearances include seasons with WCWS bids since the tournament began in 1969.
