  • 中文： 紅色 是執行 英美法系 ，又稱是普通法、判例法制度的國家。

這表示該地區不是由立法機構建立司法的系統，而是由法官依照(判決案例)隨時可以製做新的律法。 法官通常在製做律法時，必須基於文化，習慣，和以前的司法判決結果的定義，有時也必須參照世界各地制定律法的法律體系。

藍色 是執行 欧陆法系 ，也稱 大陆法系 制度的國家。 大陸法系的系統，主要是源自於(羅馬法)的遺產。 法官在給予判決時，優先遵照執行的是條文法，不會以判例，而修改已訂的律法條文。 大陸法系，是現今的法制中在世界上最普遍的系統。

黃色 是執行 習慣法 ，又稱(種族法制)的地區。 執行習慣法制的地區，通常是以族人的習慣傳統，為通用規則或慣例。 在香港，習慣法， 是起源於1843年的《大清律例》及傳統習俗，經修訂後實行。因此，也可被理解為(種族法)。 以在職業或行業的接受和預期行為組成的內在部分，並作為一項法律要求。 在當今的世界上幾乎沒有任何政治實體，實施這種的法律制度，可以說是典型的民間已完全習慣的律法動作。

綠色 是執行 伊斯蘭教法 ，又稱穆斯林法系（也叫Sharia，音譯是沙里亞) 制度的國家，沙里亞在中文裏的意思是道路 (Road = is the way)。 沙里亞是根據《 可蘭經 》和可靠聖訓的內容，對人民日常生活和行為作出法律規定，因此又被稱為(伊斯蘭法律) 。

白色 是執行犹太教法體系的政治實體。

一些国家的法律体系为混合而成。在這些國家的司法系統其中，是可以同時兩個或多個司法系統同時或交互的運用。混合颜色的含義在底部圖例中給出，如粉紅色為英美/歐陸混合，天藍色為歐陸/習慣混合。
