Category:Trotskyist organisations in Sri Lanka

This category is for Trotskyist organisations past and present in Sri Lanka.

Many of these parties' names include the term Sama Samaja. The Sinhala term Samasamajaya was one coined in the 1930s by Dally Jayawardena in the Swadesa Mitraya to translate "Socialist", but has since been superseded by Samajavadaya in everything but in the names of the various Sama Samaja parties.

In English, at least, Trotskyist seems almost exclusively used to describe their political orientation ("Samasamajist" can be found, but is rare). Compare Google searches for "Sri Lanka" and one other term: "Trotskyist" is used as a descriptor, "Sama Samaja" only in the names of the groups themselves.
