Series of Brighton & Hove bus routes


Breeze is a series of bus routes running from Brighton in Brighton and Hove, England, to three different beauty spots of the Sussex Downs. Operated by Brighton & Hove, the routes use the slogan "breeze up to the Downs and beyond' and run to Devil's Dyke, Stanmer Park and Ditchling Beacon.[1] The routes had an annual ridership of under 300,000 separately.[2]

In February 2024, Brighton and Hove City Council proposed withdrawing its subsidies for routes 77 and 79.[3] The following month, it said it had secured funding for an additional year but that the routes would have to operate on a commercial basis after that.[4]

Breeze 77

The Breeze 77 route runs from Devil's Dyke to Brighton Pier on weekends and public holidays, with 12 journeys operating each way every 45 minutes. Buses run daily between 18 June and 31 August and two extra journeys both ways in the evening operate from 17 June to 1 September.[5][6][3]

The Breeze 78 route runs from Old Steine to Stanmer Village on weekends and bank holidays, with 8 hourly journeys operating each way.[9]

The Breeze 79 route runs from Old Steine to Ditchling Beacon on weekends and bank holidays, with 8 hourly journeys operating each way.[11][6][3]
