  15. Casting Note: Richard Derr also played Commodore Barstow in "The Alternative Factor". In the interest of continuity, some Star Trek fans have suggested that, since Admiral "Fitzgerald" was never named in dialogue, it can be disregarded and "Barstow" retconned in its place. However, Derr is identified as "Fitzgerald" in the ending credits (and the script), so canon demands that "Fitzgerald" stand as a different role for the same actor, as with other actors in the Trek universe.
