History

Beginnings

The national team made its official debut in February 2015 during their participation in the inaugural edition of the Arab U-17 Women's Cup hosted in Doha, Qatar.[2] Starting their campaign with a 6–0 win against Iraq, the team experienced setbacks in the following matches against Palestine and Lebanon. They lost to Palestine again in the third-place playoff, ultimately securing a fourth-place finish.

In August 2017, the team marked its continental debut in the African U-17 Women's World Cup qualification. Initially scheduled to play Mali in the first round, the team received a Walkover as Mali withdrew, thereby securing their ticket to the second round. In the round that followed, they went on to confront Cameroon.[3] Lacking a local championship for their age category, the Algerians faced defeats in both matches. The first leg ended in a 4–0 loss Algiers, while the second leg resulted in a large 7–0 defeat in Yaoundé.[4]

Return to Action

Following a period of inactivity exceeding 5 years, the Algerian Football Federation revealed in July 2023 that former Algerian international Wahiba Rahal had been appointed as the team's coach.[5] The team engaged in the African Qualifiers for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic. This marked their second appearance in history, and they were drawn to play a doubleheader against Benin.[6]
