Ahvaz County (Persian: شهرستان اهواز) is in Khuzestan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Ahvaz.[3]

At the 2006 census, the county's population was 1,317,377 in 274,296 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 1,395,184 people in 351,980 households,[5] by which time Anaqcheh Rural District and the former Bavi District had been separated from the county to form Bavi County.[6] At the 2016 census, the county's population was 1,302,591 in 362,480 households,[2] when the former Hamidiyeh District had separated from the county in the establishment of Hamidiyeh County,[7] and Kut-e Abdollah Rural District and Soveyseh Rural District in the establishment of Karun County.[8]
