Ahmed Jila'ow Adow (Somali: Axmed Jilacow Cadoow, Arabic: احمد جيلعو عدو; died 2007) was the former Director of the National Security Service (Somalia) from 1970 to 1991 in the time of Siad Barre. He was also in charge of the notorious Godka Jila'ow prison in central Mogadishu, which dealt with high-risk inmates and was named after him. After that, he became the Mayor of Mogadishu in 1990 until a year later when the civil war broke out.

Biography

Jilacow was born in the city of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. He was from the Abgaal/Wacbudhan clan. He died on October 5, 2007, after his car got ambushed by an armed militia. He was shot and sustained injures and ultimately died of it not long after in Keysaney hospital.[1]
